Are you able to distinguish between a three-door and a five-door? Or your Volkswagen Polo’s Ford Puma?
All of this information is helpful when navigating the automotive sector. Unfortunately, if you’re hiring a minibus for the first time, it won’t help much.
It’s not like minibuses are foreign technology. After all, they have steering wheels. as well as the brakes, tires, crankshafts, camshafts, and everything else.
However, even if you have Auto Express, you will likely require some assistance in understanding the many minibus models and manufacturers.
Do not be alarmed. Since we have been hiring minibuses for the past 10 years, we are familiar with them. We have, after all.
We created this guide to the three minibus models that now comprise our fleet in order to address this issue. Start here if you’re looking to book a minibus in Hertfordshire.
Keep in mind that as we upgrade our fleet, certain models may change. Naturally, this depends on availability; we cannot guarantee that we will carry the exact model you require. We will, however, make every effort to supply the closest substitute if the model you desire is not available.
Our minibus with nine seats is the Mercedes Benz Vito Tourer. That’s ten seats total 9 for passengers and one for the driver.
The Tourer is under the MPV van category. The term “multi-purpose vehicle” (abbreviated MPV) encompasses vehicles such as the Volkswagen Touran, Citroën Berlingo, and Dacia Jogger.
See how we used the word “cars”? The Tourer is essentially a bus disguised as a car, which explains why. It is hardly longer than the typical hatchback, quite nimble, and incredibly forgiving.
But don’t be concerned. Passengers will not be yelling for legroom on this low-cost carrier. It’s comfortable without being claustrophobic, making it an excellent option for novice minibus drivers who don’t have to transport a lot of people.
As the driver, your seat position won’t feel all that different from that of a regular automobile, and you won’t feel like you’re dominating the road. Bonus: parking isn’t too difficult because of its small size.
Additionally, you’ll be able to fit a good lot in the boot. You would be better suited with the next size up, though, if you had tonnes of luggage or more than nine passengers.
Are you and your extended family taking a vacation? Or planning a once-in-a-lifetime road vacation with your closest friends? It is possible that you may be transporting a women’s lacrosse team to their upcoming match. (Trust us, it does happen.)
If so, our mid-sized Ford Transit may be the long-awaited minibus. It’s perfect for large parties who like to travel in luxury together because it has 12 passenger seats.
But don’t be fooled this minibus is definitely van-shaped. The name alone gives it away: this is a vintage Ford Transit van with passenger seats in place of cargo space.
However, you won’t be operating a gigantic vehicle. If you’re used to driving vehicles, the 12-seater Ford Transit is still easy to get used to because it’s the smallest model in its class.
To put that in perspective, the Transit is roughly 25% wider and 20% longer than a Ford Focus. However, it is around 65% taller. (Yes, you should be concerned about those “Max. headroom” signs at this height.)
Comfort and spaciousness are traded off. Although you will be operating a slightly larger vehicle, your passengers will be in a comfortable, seat-belt-enabled paradise. Additionally, there will be plenty space for your luggage and other necessary trip items.
This is the larger Ford Transit minibus, as the name would imply. It offers plenty of room for passengers and luggage and can accommodate up to 17 people, making it appropriate for almost any journey.
It’s possible to accommodate all of the Strictly Come Dancing celebrities and still have space for two more.
Compared to its 12-seat cousin, the 17-seat Transit is taller and longer. Ford has used this area little. The manufacturer has included a convenient pair of baggage shelves in addition to more seats, giving you even more room for your vacation belongings.
Naturally, this also implies that you will be operating a sizable vehicle. Considering that most assessments of the Transit highlight how easy it is to drive, it should be more than feasible for most seasoned drivers. However, you could be better off with a smaller minibus if you’re a little anxious about operating a large vehicle.
Does this sound like a familiar scenario?
Actually, you don’t need many seats nearly any more than a car. But you are aware that you require a great deal of room. Maybe you’re planning a surfing vacation with several friends and need a place to keep your boards. Or perhaps you’re touring with a six-piece band and don’t want to be stuck with your gear the entire time.
You don’t need a minibus if you read that and said, “Yes, that’s me.” A crew van is required.
A crew van’s popularity among tradespeople’s “crews” is the source of its name. Despite carrying heavy loads of tools and supplies, plumbers, builders, and other doers typically operate in small teams.
Thus, the distinctive design of the crew van. It’s basically a minibus and a van together. There are six seats up front, one of which is for the driver. Additionally, there is cargo space in the back for items like surfboards, tools, and bricks.
We have the Ford Transit crew van, which was featured in Auto Express’s list of the “best five-seat combo and crew vans to buy” in two different models. You’ll know you’re going to have an amazing drive when you receive a commendation like that. You and your staff are included in that.
